Celfie is designed to help you understand and track your emotional well-being through facial emotion recognition technology and personalized mental wellness content.

By using our App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this policy, please do not access the App.

2. Subscription Terms

Celfie offers premium mental wellness features through auto-renewable subscriptions. By purchasing a subscription, you agree to the following terms:

Auto-Renewal

Your subscription will automatically renew for the same duration and at the same price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current subscription period. You will be charged through your Apple ID account.

Managing Your Subscription

You can view, change, or cancel your subscription at any time by going to your Apple ID account settings. Subscriptions cannot be cancelled during the active subscription period.

Terms of Use (EULA)

Refunds

All subscription purchases are handled by Apple. Refund requests must be made directly through Apple's support channels. We do not provide refunds for unused portions of subscription periods.

3. Facial Data Collection and Use

Celfie uses facial recognition technology to analyze your emotions and provide personalized mental wellness support. This section explains how we handle your facial data:

What Facial Data We Collect

We collect facial images through your device's camera when you choose to take a selfie for emotion analysis. We analyze facial features and expressions to detect emotional states such as happiness, sadness, stress, or anxiety. We do not collect biometric identifiers, facial recognition data for identification purposes, or face mapping data that could be used to identify you.

How We Use Facial Data

Facial images are used solely for real-time emotion detection and analysis. Specifically, we use this data to:

  • Analyze facial expressions to identify current emotional states
  • Provide personalized motivational content based on detected emotions
  • Track emotional patterns over time to support your mental wellness journey
  • Offer tailored mindfulness exercises and wellness recommendations

Data Processing and Storage

Facial images are processed on our secure servers to ensure accurate emotion recognition. We do not share facial data with any third parties. All facial analysis is performed by our proprietary systems, and the processed emotional data is sent back to you through the app.

Facial Data Retention

Facial images are automatically deleted from our servers after 30 days. Emotional analysis results (without the original images) may be retained longer to track your wellness progress, but can be deleted upon request.

Your Control Over Facial Data

You have complete control over facial data collection:

  • Camera access is only enabled with your explicit permission
  • You can revoke camera permissions at any time through device settings
  • You can request immediate deletion of all facial data
  • The app functions without facial analysis if you choose not to use this feature

Important: We do not use facial data for identification purposes, advertising, or any purpose other than emotion analysis for your personal wellness journey. Your facial data is never shared with third parties.

4. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Account Information: Name, email address, profile picture, and password when you create an account
  • Wellness Data: Mood entries, stress levels, mental health goals, and wellness preferences you choose to share
  • Facial Images: Selfies taken within the app for emotion recognition (deleted after 30 days)
  • Journal Entries: Personal reflections, gratitude notes, and mood tracking entries
  • Preferences: App settings, notification preferences, and wellness program selections
  • Subscription Information: Purchase history and subscription status

Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage Data: How you interact with the App, features used, and time spent in wellness activities
  • Device Information: Device type, operating system, unique device identifiers
  • Log Data: IP address, app crashes, system activity, and timestamps
  • Emotion Analysis Results: Processed emotional state data derived from facial analysis

Important: We do not access your device's photo library, contacts, or other apps without your explicit permission. Camera access is only used for emotion analysis when you choose to take a selfie.

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We especially do not share facial data or emotion analysis results with any third parties. We may share limited non-facial information in the following circumstances:

We may share limited non-facial information with third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf, including:

  • Cloud hosting and data storage providers (facial data is not included)
  • Analytics services (anonymized usage data only)
  • Customer support tools
  • Payment processors (Apple for subscription processing)

Important: Facial images and emotion analysis data are never shared with service providers.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose limited information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities. Facial data will only be disclosed if specifically required by legal process.

Business Transfers

However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide our services and fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy. Specifically:

  • Facial Images: Automatically deleted after 30 days
  • Emotion Analysis Results: Retained for progress tracking, deleted upon request
  • Account Information: Retained while your account is active
  • Wellness Data: Kept while you use the App and for progress tracking
  • Journal Entries: Stored until you delete them or close your account
  • Subscription Data: Retained for billing purposes and as required by law

Celfie is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information, including facial data, from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately, and we will take steps to delete such information.

For users between 13-17, we recommend parental guidance when using facial recognition features.

11. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any material changes, especially those affecting facial data handling, by:

  • Posting the new Privacy Policy on this page
  • Updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy
